The line-up consisted of several melodic hardcore bands such as local band More To Come, Energy, All We Know, and Let Live. After walking up the tall staircase and paying the 6 dollar fee you will first notice three art pieces on the wall that have a questionable meaning. However after pondering where the heck you are and what your doing there you see the band’s equipment. After about a 10 minute wait the first band plays More To come consisting of La Puente High School student Michael Garcia, and former students David Jimenez, Ivan Garcia, and Jordan Barragan. The show ended up having a respectable amount of people there, not much movement but you still felt the energy in the air giving off by the hardcore riffs, and fills given off by the instruments. Whereas the show wasn’t just about who showed up, or how many people were there. It was a celebration of hardcore music. The energy and volume were tuned up and the audience respected every bands talent even if they weren’t famous. So if you ever feel like joining in on a celebration/ gathering of hardcore check out More To Come at www.myspace.com/moretocomex.

Water Fest

By David Raygoza; Staff Writer

La Puente High’s Robotics class recently went to Arcadia Park, where the Water Fest convention took place. There were many kids of all ages who were enjoying the food and music, and at the same time learning about solar energy.

There were groups of about fifty kids cheering and singing. The bad thing that happened at the park is that it started to rain, but I guess it’s called Water Fest for a reason.
The sixth-period robotics class went to Water Fest to show the solar-powered boat we built last year and demonstrate how it works.

It was more hard work than fun, but at the end it paid off. Kids and adults were having fun with the small solar cars that LP brought for demonstrations. They even wanted to steal some of them.

There even was a pie-eating contest were Eduardo Diaz and Christian Lazo participated. Unfortunately they lost, but they had plenty of fun. One kid, not from LP, even ramped after consuming almost a whole pie.

The Water Fest convention was more like a fair, because there were lots of exhibitions, events and music.

Remebering 9-11

By: Yadira Sida; Staff Writer

"Look it’s burning..."
“Help! She also says that there may be something more to this situation.
The way that the United States remembers it is “the day of revenge…”

On Sept. 11, 2008, the La Puente High School ASB Leadership class set up a memorial display in the Wigwam, to remember the people that were actually hurt, and to prove wrong the people who were thinking it was just a fake.
This event got people to see how tragic and how painful this was. The way that others recall it was that a lot of people died and a lot of people in New York were hurt, and they wanted to do something about it.
While people were looking at this memorial, some girls started to cry because the pictures they had displayed were too strong.
The people who couldn’t take it had to get out of the Wigwam. The girls who started to cry were looking at the pictures of the people jumping off the Twin Towers.
There were also some pictures of dead people.
On September 10, 2008 some English teachers had students write what they remembered about 9-11.
Some students wrote that they were at home trying to get ready for school when they got the news. Other students were already in class when they got their part of the news.
Ms. Tyler said that when she heard the news she was barely waking up and she heard it from the radio news. She also said that 9-11 is one of the worst things that happened so far to this country and probably theirs more to it.
